Skogafoss - The big white Curtain
Skógafoss is one of the most beautiful waterfalls of Iceland, located in the southern parts. Skógafoss is easy to access from a big parking in front of the base of the waterfall. This waterfall belongs to one of the most visited waterfalls of Iceland and is a must to see when traveling through Iceland.
Skogafoss is an easy to reach waterfall located between Selfoss (100 km) and Kirkjubæjarklaustur (also 100 km). Already from ring road 1 you can see the majestic Skogafoss in the distance. The waterfall lies just 500 meter off road 1 near Skógá and is very easy to access. Follow the signs Skógá or Skogafoss from ring road 1. The signs leads to a big parking close to the base of the waterfall. Here the view on Skogafoss is already amazing. From the parking it is a short walk, along the river, over the black sand to the base of the powerful Skogafoss.
It is also possible to walk up along Skogafoss. On the east side of the waterfall you can climb up a path crossing some amazing viewpoints. The rock formations are covered with moss and the shapes are bizarre. A perfect setting for taking artistic and unique pictures. Not so many tourists do this.
